Matt Spade got his first experience working in film in 1998 when he did foley, sound editing and music for "Surrender Dorothy". The film went on to win the 'Underground Triple Crown': Grand Jury Prizes at the Slamdance Film Festival, New York Underground Film Festival, and Chicago Underground Film Festival. Roger Ebert hand-picked Surrender Dorothy as one of only ten films to inaugurate his first annual Ebertfest in Champagne-Urbana, Illinois.
Matt has worked many facets of film and video, including editing and post production sound. With the advent of DSLR cameras, Matt has taken advantage of the DIY film-making movement to direct and edit his own shorts.
"Strange Meats:The Soupie" is his first feature documentary and will premeire in late summer (2014).

Tom Kutza

Tom is the voice of the region. Director Matt Spade has said "Tom Kutza is the soundtrack to growing up in Shamokin, like Harry Kalas was always the sound of the Philles. Tom is known for his 34 years on the WISL airwaves, where he shared his positive energy with the listeners. Joe has received critical acclaim and has been featured on numerous radio and television programs. He’s performed with the traveling improvisational music project The Everyone Orchestra and alongside Jim Weider (The Band), Rodney Holmes (Santana) and the 8-time Grammy nominated guitarist Frank DiBussolo. Raised in the Coal Region, Joe was able to capture the gritty and friendly sound of the area to help tell the story of the soupie. Joe is credited with writing and recording all of the music in "Strange Meats: The Soupie."

The role of producer and grip do not often go hand in hand, but "Strange Meats:The Soupie" is not an ordinary project. The DIY-style that fuled this film is what led Morgan to take on these roles - each for the first time. She is pleased to be part of a project that sheds so much positive light on the Coal Region.
